Dress challenge, day 10

So…have you ever purchased a dress and then thought 'why did I buy that?'

That's how I felt about this number from Target … until I wore it.

It's like a little slice of heaven. Soft. Comfortable.

Best of all : clearance-priced at $9.

I paired it with a silver necklace that came with a shirt (purchased on clearance) and a cardigan from Maurice's. Cardigan was marked down to $24.

Shoes are from Gordmans, $9.

Multiple compliments today. 😀

Dress challenge, day 6

Sometimes, you'll find a bargain on the clearance rack at Target.

I found two.

First, the black and white striped skirt was a bargain at $6.84 at 70 percent off.

The emerald green sweater originally sold for $19. I snagged it for $11.

I paired it with a black racer back cami, which was $7 at Gordmans.

Shades of gray and yellow

Seeing all these hints of spring – and sunshine – have me searching out color in my wardrobe.

I bought this dress on clearance at Dollar General for $5.  I like the varying shades of gray. In the summer, tights won’t be necessary but on a windy April day, I’m fine with the look. Tights are Cato brand.

The yellow cardigan is lightweight. Target, on sale for $7.99.

Paired this look off with a pair of gray flats. Look out, world!

Soft on suede

Election Day. I should’ve been decked out in red, white and blue.

Nope. Guess again.

When I think of suede, I think circa 1978. Not sure why, but it’s my first thought.

Cato had these cute brown suede skirts on clearance. I couldn’t resist. 12.99 was a bargain.

I paired it with an olive camisole from gordmans. Full price-6.99.

Wore a black long sleeve shirt over that. Target. 4.99

Black tights are from Cato. 2.99 clearance. Leopard ballet flats were available at Shopko for 12.99 clearance.

The jean jacket is 11 years old. Bought it when I taught journalism. Cato. Clearance. 15.99.

Found a similar look on Pinterest. Loved the compliments on election night.

Thanks Pinterest

I will admit it. I never would have dreamed of pairing leopard print with emerald blue.

But, Pinterest showed me the error of my thinking.

I don’t have a black blazer – and really, I’m not a blazer fan, so I added a balcony cardigan. Next time, I think I’ll wear a jean jacket instead.

Skirt = Cato. Clearance for $7.99. Blue camisole -Cato. Regular price $9.99. Cardigan is from Target. Clearance for $4.99.

Leopard and Chambray

Another day in the newsroom. I have an interview today so I wanted a classy outfit, but I’m also on deadline -we print tomorrow- so I want something casual and roomy.

Necklace is from Cato. About six years old. Clearance rack for $1.99. Bargain!

Black V-neck sweater is Merona from Target. It’s clearance rack material, that I paid $6.88.

Chambray shirt came from Maurices. I first looked at it when it was regular price – $45.99. Now, there is no way I’m paying that kind if cha-Ching for a shirt, no matter how popular or stylish. Clearance rack was marked down to $22 and the day I bought it, the store took off another 50 percent. $11. Perfect.

Crimson straight leg pants are from Cato. They weren’t expensive to begin with, but I waited til they hit clearance and grabbed them when they were $14.99.

I love the shoes. They are leopard ballet flats from Shopko. $12.99 clearance.
